"To encourage eligible school-aged children, faculty, and staff to get a COVID-19 vaccine, Governor Jim Justice and the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) are sponsoring the I Got Vaxxed Competition.
A total of 12 schools – four elementary schools, four middle schools, and four high schools** – with the largest percentage of eligible vaccinated staff and students will each win $50,000 to use for any activities or initiatives which will improve the student experience. The competition is open to both public and private schools. Schools are encouraged to poll their student populations to learn how students would like the funds to be used to encourage full participation.
The competition is completely voluntary. The online form to submit the number of faculty, staff, and students vaccinated at your school will be available in September. Competition submission forms will be emailed to county superintendents and school principals at the end of September. Submissions are due Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, and the winning schools will be announced in November."
