We have a few important updates for this week. Please listen closely. There is no school tomorrow for students, it is a professional learning day for staff. Halloween Parties – 10/27 for PreK and 10/28 for K-5, limit two family members per student. We just have a very limited space, and do not have the ability to accommodate large numbers of visitors per child. On the date of the K-5 party, parents may arrive for the parade starting at 1:00 pm, the parade will be at 1:15 and classroom parties begin at 1:30. All parents will need to exit by 2:10. If you are signing your child out, you will do so on the list in each individual classroom. Students may only be signed out by their parents, or someone listed on their emergency card, unless prior approval has been given (in writing) by an administrator. 10/14/2022 Friday – Call-Out Good evening, Conner Street Parents, we have five items on tonight’s call out, so please listen to it in its entirety. Halloween Family Fun Night will be tomorrow, October 15th. Admission is $5 per person. Grades PreK-2nd are from 5:00 – 6:45 pm, and grades 3rd-5th are from 7:00 – 8:45. Concessions will be available for purchase. Join us for a Howlin’ Good Time! October 18th is a very busy day at Conner Street. Our third – fifth graders will be listening to a guest speaker, so please discuss proper etiquette with your child. That evening will be our Title One Family Night: Monster Math, this is an RSVP only event. There will also be a PTB meeting at 7:00 and an LSIC meeting afterward. All are welcome to both meetings. October 21st there is no school for students, it is a professional learning day for staff. Schoology Logins – Parents – if you have created your parent account and named it your student’s name, please go in and change it to your name. This has caused some confusion for several students, parents, and teachers. Students thought they were logged in as themselves, when really the parent was logged in. This would not allow students to submit assignments.

Good evening, Conner Street Families – There is quite a bit of info in today’s call out, so please bear with me. Morning drop-off has been very smooth since the first week of school; however, we are starting to have issues with parents dropping their children off in the road or pulling in the back of the parking lot, dropping their child, and pulling out. It is getting darker in the morning, and this has almost caused some very dangerous situations, including a minor car accident. Please merge into the drop-off line, and do not drop your child off on the opposite side of the road, middle of the road, or back of the parking lot. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Warner or myself. Fire Safety for grades PreK-1 will be Tuesday, October 4th and Grades 2-3 will be Thursday, October 6th. Grades 4 and 5 will be having different activities later in the month. If you do not want your child to participate in the smokehouse portion of the fire safety demonstration, please notify your child’s teacher by Tuesday, October 4th School pictures are Wednesday, October 5th. Flyers were sent home last week. If you would like to prepay online, simply go to lifetouch.com, choose Order Pictures and use the code EVTHV6BNR. This code is also posted on Schoology and our school website. In two weeks, we will be having a Buff City Soap Fundraiser, if you want to participate simply go to Buff City in Barboursville (located near Target) on either Monday October, 10th or Wednesday, October 12th between the hours of 4:00 – 7:00 pm to purchase items. Buff City will be donating 10% of the profits for both nights directly to Conner Street. Of the proceeds, 50% will go to instructional supplies, while the remaining 50% will be split between student incentives and staff appreciation. Please spread the word – this is a great way to pick up early holiday gifts and help Conner Street at the same time. Finally, October 15th will be our annual Trunk or Treat, right here at Conner Street. More information to come next week.

Good evening, Conner Street! Hope everyone has had a great week. We do have a couple of items on our call out. First - Movie nights have been a big success. In the future, money for movie nights will be due the Day BEFORE the movie. We will not accept money the day of UNLESS a child has been absent several days in a row. Second – We do not accept student deliveries at Conner Street, this includes but is not limited to flowers, balloons, fast food lunches, etc. This policy has been in place for several years and has not changed. Just a reminder that money and permission slips for Dinner and a movie are due by 8:00 am tomorrow. Second/third grade on Thursday and fourth/fifth on Friday. Permission slips went home Monday. If you haven’t seen one, check your child’s backpack/folder. If you can’t find the slip, just send a signed note to the teacher stating your child has permission to attend, who will be picking them up after the event at 4:45 and $5.00. Remind them to turn it in when they get to class. The movie nights are a fundraiser - payment must be made in order for child to participate.

Good evening, Conner Street Families, we are doing our weekly update a day early to remind everyone of a few things for tomorrow. There are several items in this call out, so please be patient and listen to it in its entirety. • Tomorrow evening 4:00 pm – until we are finished, and Saturday 10:00 am – until we are finished, we will be painting games on our blacktop area on the playground. All volunteers are welcome, if we can finish everything on Friday, I will do a call out to let you know about Saturday. • All orders and money for class t-shirts and Popcorn passes are due tomorrow, Friday Sept. 16th. Popcorn passes for the full year are $20. If you are not interested in a pass, but your child wants to purchase a bag tomorrow they will need $1.00. • Next Thursday and Friday, we will be having Movie Nights sponsored by PTB. The cost is $5 (includes admission, popcorn, pizza, cupcake and drink), the movie will begin after school and pick up will be at 4:45. The movie is Bad Guys, rated PG. Permission slips will be coming home soon. Thursday will be grades 2-3, and Friday will be grades 4-5. • The rest of September and all of October will be a very busy time at Conner Street, so in order to help us keep things straight I have created a calendar of events. This calendar is posted on our Schoology main page, our school website, and the PCS Connect App. • Finally, parents we are seeing an increase in cell phones being brought out during the school day. If you are choosing to send a phone with your child, it needs to be put away as soon as the child enters the building.

Hello Conner Street Families, it has been another great week at CSE. Just a few things on today’s call out. First, there is NO School on Monday, September 5th due to Labor Day. Enjoy that time with your families. Our i-Ready Benchmark opens on Tuesday, September 6th. Please encourage your students to try their best and take their time. We need accurate results, in order to meet our students where they are. If all things fall into place, our iPads will be distributed that day. Leaders of the month for September will be posted on our school website, as well as Schoology, early next week. These will be student names only. We are so proud of the outstanding leadership skills these students have shown in the first few days of school. Just a reminder, please do not park in the lot for drop off or pick-up UNLESS you have a Pre-K student. We all also need to follow the traffic pattern, if you have questions about this place feel free to reach out. Fourth and fifth grade clubs begin next week, students who have signed up for and been assigned to a club will get breakfast, if they choose, and then head straight to their club location. Parents – some of our staff, especially in the upper grades, will begin posting the weekly newsletter on Schoology. This will be teacher’s discretion. The cost of paper and copying has greatly increased, so we will be making use of the technology we have available. Additionally, we want to prepare our students for middle school, where Schoology is the main mode of communication. If you need a paper copy of the newsletter OR need to be provided with your Schoology access code again, reach out to the classroom teacher, Mrs. Warner or myself. Lastly, news from PTB. Be on the lookout for popcorn sales information. Also, class t-shirt orders are due by Friday, September 9th.
